We partner with our clients to transform their business functions through the clever use of data and interoperability.The Legal Counsel is a new role and will form part of the Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) team and will provide effective, commercially practical legal advice across a broad spectrum of matters, including contracts, agreements and regulatory compliance.Responsibilities:Legal Advice and Support: providing legal guidance to Novigi's leadership team and employees on a wide range of issues including contract, employment law, intellectual property and regulatory compliance.Contract Management: Drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts (consultancy agreements, master services agreement, managed services agreements, vendor contracts etc) to ensure they are legally sound and protect Novigi's interests.Risk Management: Anticipating and identifying legal risks and developing strategies to mitigate those risks.Data Privacy: Playing the Data Protection Officer role at Novigi with support from the team. Developing and implementing data protection policies and procedures.Compliance: Monitoring the data privacy laws and handling data breaches (in conjunction with the GM of Information Security and The Technical Compliance Manager). Ensuring Novigi complies with all relevant laws and regulations including the development and maintenance of relevant corporate policies. This includes but is not limited to legislation such as the Privacy Act, Modern Slavery Act and the Corporations Act. Providing training to employees on legal and compliance risk and issues.Skills and Experience:Australian law degree or Juris Doctor.Minimum of 3-4 years of relevant experience.An understanding of the Privacy Act.Experience working in a technology or software company (ideally in the financial services or superannuation sector).Exposure to technology contracts, preferably in the financial services industry.Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across the business.Only those candidates chosen to progress will be contacted.
