Initial 12-month contract with possible extension | Market rates Brisbane CBD Location with flexibility to WFH 2 days per week Our client, a large complex Queensland Government organisation, is currently seeking a Change & Communications Officer for their Service Modernisation Program.
The role
The Information and Digital Services business unit is leading a Service Modernisation Program (SMP) which will deliver a comprehensive program of work that will:
Improve the way vulnerable Queenslanders interact with their frontline services; Provide a single source of truth for data; Provide agility to respond to the changing needs of Queenslanders through reducing the complexity of our ICT ecosystem. The Change and Communications Officer will report directly to the Program Director - Change and Engagement and will be responsible for supporting the Service Modernisation Program's (SMP).
What you will be doing
Liaise with and develop strong, positive relationships with a range of stakeholders including ministerial, departmental staff, and external consultants. Coordinate and deliver change management planning, initiatives/projects in a complex environment with a focus on adoption, efficiency gains, and cultural and behavioural change. Create and assist in the development of clear, concise, and engaging communication materials, including newsletters, presentations, marketing collateral, emails, formal briefing notes, slide decks, web content, and other collateral to inform stakeholders about the SMP progress and updates. Work closely with the Program Change Manager, cross-functional teams, project managers, product owners, subject matter experts, and external stakeholders to gather information and insights for communication purposes, ensuring accuracy before dissemination. Coordinate the distribution of communication materials through appropriate channels, ensuring timely and accurate delivery to the target audience. Manage the program's digital presence, including the program's SharePoint site, by creating and curating relevant content that showcases the transformation journey and highlights key achievements. Identify and document the program and initiative stakeholders in Program and Project Stakeholder Engagement Plans. Define the program and project Communications Strategies, aligning with the program and department strategies. Craft key messages at a Program and project level for concise and compelling messaging to articulate the purpose, benefits, and impacts. Content development for various communications materials such as newsletters, FAQs, presentations, videos, and other media. Utilise visuals and infographics to make complex information more readable. Be innovative, engage with key internal influencers, and schedule key communications for specific events (i.e., releases). Establish Program and Project feedback mechanisms and provide feedback to ensure our customers are heard. Organise interactive sessions by facilitating and hosting core engagement. Gauge stakeholder sentiment and effectiveness of communication strategies. To thrive in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:
Experience in communication, stakeholder engagement, and change, preferably in a government role related to digital transformation or technology projects. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to convey complex ideas in a clear and accessible manner. Proficiency in using communication tools and software, including Microsoft Office Suite, content management systems, and social media platforms. Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Detail-oriented mindset, ensuring accuracy and consistency in all communication materials. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders. Ability to quickly establish effective working relationships with colleagues and internal stakeholders. Be culturally sensitive and inclusive to ensure all of our employees are valued and supported in the learning journey. Be proactive in your approach to driving stakeholder engagement and transparency throughout the transformation process. Mandatory requirements
3-5 years' experience as a Change and/or Communications Officer, Project officer role, or similar in digital transformation programs. Bachelor's degree in ICT, Strategy, Business, or a related field will be highly regarded. This daily rate is inclusive of mandatory 25% casual loading.
