The opportunities: Temporary Full Time until June 2026Temporary Part Time (32 hours/week) until November 2025Where you'll be working:
This position sits within the Hunter Drug and Alcohol Counselling Team based at James Fletcher Hospital Campus Newcastle. The role will provide face-to-face care to clients in various locations across the Newcastle area.
About the role:
Your typical day in this role would consist of providing assessments and implementing appropriate care and management plans for clients to ensure they reach their optimal outcomes within prescribed timeframes. Working in consultation with other members of the multidisciplinary team, you will reach individual case decisions based on best practice. You will be required to prioritise tasks as competing demands arise throughout the day and/or week.
You will be supported day-to-day by your line Manager, Clinical Lead and fellow team professionals and will have access to the Drug & Alcohol Allied Health Lead as needed. You will also have access to Clinical Supervision on a monthly basis as well as ongoing professional development and learning provided internally to DACS.
About you:
We are looking for someone who is professional and ethical, with effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. You will be capable of working in an environment that can be complex and everchanging due to client needs and challenges. The ability to work in a team environment is also a must.
Requirements: Must hold a degree in Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, Counselling or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer, which provides eligibility or membership of the relevant professional association and full registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), where applicable.Eligible to drive in NSW and the ability and willingness to travel for work purposes which may involve driving long distances.What we can offer you:
