The opportunity

The HR Business Partner supports the senior leaders at SRO to make excellent people decisions, through coaching, development and a deep understanding of the business context. The role provides advice and insight to State Revenue Office (SRO) leaders and other HR staff on human resource matters, in partnership with allocated client groups. HR Business Partners play a critical role in developing and implementing HR policy and procedure, workforce planning, recruitment, selection and induction, reward and recognition, performance management, change management and employee relations. As part of a professional Human Resources team, this role is based at state-of-the-art central locations at either Ballarat GovHub, or at the SRO's office in Exhibition Street, Melbourne. Some travel between sites will be required.

Responsibilities

Building and maintaining relationships with SRO leaders to understand stakeholder issues and advise and coach on effective people management practices.

Providing employee relations and case management services to senior managers in sensitive confidential performance management and misconduct matters.

Initiating research, preparing reports and data analysis and making recommendations for innovative and practical solutions and associated implementation issues for new and amended HR policy and workforce planning processes.

Leading, mentoring and coaching HR Consultants and Senior HR Consultants and contribute to Branch strategic planning.

Who we are looking for

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Current and extensive specialist knowledge and expertise with contemporary HR policies, practices, legislation and industrial agreements.

Highly developed conceptual, analytical and research skills with an aptitude for flexible and innovative problem solving to develop practical HR solutions.

Demonstrated verbal communication, coaching and consultancy skills to provide advice and insight to senior managers, HR staff and other stakeholders on people related matters, including recruitment and selection, people and performance management and misconduct, workforce planning, and staff engagement.

Ability to research and write clear and concise reports and papers and analyse data providing expert analysis, options and recommendations on complex policy, strategic and operational issues for a range of audiences to proactively support business planning and decision making.

Proven ability to develop project plans and successfully manage the implementation of major change initiatives and multiple projects of various size and complexity within timelines and budget.

Relevant tertiary qualifications and knowledge of HR systems are highly desirable.
