The role is varied and will keep you challenged undertaking a range of tasks relating to tenancy and property management and providing housing advice and assistance.The role will be responsible for tenancy and property management that is in line with the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA), ensuring awareness of tenant and landlord roles and responsibilities and always ensuring the public properties our clients reside in are of good standard.What will you be doing?No two days will be the same. One day you may be in the office doing administrative related tasks or assessing clients' needs and providing advice on housing options, the next day you may be on the road conducting home visits, organising maintenance, liaising with vulnerable renters, helping people with health issues, and connecting them to supports to enable them to thrive in their communities.Your accountabilities will be:Work with tenants to assist and support them in maintaining their tenancies.Carry out property inspections every 6 months and complete required property reports.Attend court/tribunal hearings where necessary to represent the interest of the department.Ensure tenancy and property records are kept up to date and information recorded meets the department and regulatory standards.Maintain positive relationships with external and internal stakeholders.Actively contribute to developing and implementing strategies that connect tenants to additional support.To be successful in the role, you may:Have demonstrated experience working or interacting with vulnerable client groups.Previous experience in a client-focused role working with the public.Community service or housing experience or even property management experience.Experience with Microsoft Office products for reporting.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to problem solve and make decisions.Resilience and perseverance while adapting to challenging situations.Empathy and cultural awareness always applying with sensitivity and professionalism.What we offer you:Continuous training opportunities while on the job.Employee wellbeing and support programs.The opportunity to start or advance your career in the Victoria Public Service.Extensive leave provisions to balance work and personal life.How to apply:All VPS employees (and ex-VPS employees with extended access to the Jobs and Skills Exchange website) MUST apply via the Jobs and Skills Exchange (JSE) portal.Please submit an up to date CV.As part of the application process, you will also be required to complete a short questionnaire asking you to respond in writing to two questions.Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
