POSITION SUMMARY: Accepts and processes residents staying in lodge/shelter overnight; receives and receipts fees from residents; monitors residents' activity on an assigned shift ensuring safety, security, and compliance with house rules; maintains accurate and complete records and logs; ensures that the lodge/shelter is maintained in proper order.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Checks clients into the lodge/shelter; prepares and monitors client intake cards; determines if a client has been prepaid by a sponsor or credit.Ensures that all clients are properly oriented to rules and procedures concerning their stay.Prepares and distributes meal tickets; distributes towels, linens, and personal hygiene items; secures and distributes client medications as required.Receives payments for rent and updates intake cards; obtains clients' signatures on forms and lodge/shelter rules.Monitors the activities of lodge/shelter residents ensuring safety and compliance with house rules; checks the security of all windows and doors; monitors cameras and makes periodic rounds; records unique situations occurring on assigned shift.Responds to emergencies in a calm manner and initiates corrective actions in accordance with established policies and procedures.Opens and closes the lodge/shelter doors at designated hours of operation.Completes required paperwork representing client intake for the day; inputs data into the computer to maintain records and generate client lists.Sorts client intake cards in alphabetical order.Assigns housekeeping and other tasks to residents; ensures compliance with house rules.Ensures that anyone in the building wears a badge.Tracks incoming individuals to ensure they have proper permission to be on the grounds.Answers telephone and responds to questions regarding Social Service Center operations.Wakes up lodge/shelter clients at designated time and instructs them to collect their sheets; ensures all residents are out by designated time.Generates client receipts in accordance with the Money Collection Procedure.Signs an acknowledgment form agreeing to follow all policies outlined in the Money Collection Procedure.Enters client data into the HMIS system.Maintains accurate information in the Log Book.Notes all emergencies and infractions.Conducts intake screening for emergency assistance cases.Assists Case Worker with client referrals and service connections.OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: Administers drug testing of clients as needed.Directs clients to appropriate agencies for their special needs.Performs other related work as required.MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT USED: Photocopy MachineTelephoneComputerIntercom SystemFax machineMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or G.E.D.
and one year experience performing security or social service work preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
