About the role:
The Lung Function Lab is a busy diagnostic service with a small team of scientists testing approximately 5,000 patients per year. Duties will include the physiological assessment of lung function in patients with a wide range of disease, preparation of lung function reports, calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment, quality assurance activities, teaching and related administrative tasks. The laboratory offers a comprehensive lung function testing service and is fully computerised.

About you:
We are seeking a skilled and energetic Hospital Scientist who possess a passion for person centred care to work with a small team of scientists and perform high quality lung function testing (and associated administrative tasks) in a busy clinical environment.

1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent's Health Australia
2. BSc or equivalent with human physiology
3. Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a harmonious team
4. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients and hospital staff
5. Self-motivated with attention to accuracy, detail, and achieving set goals in a timely manner
6. Understanding the principles of laboratory quality control and troubleshooting
7. Commitment to excellence in service delivery
8. Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development (e.g. attainment of Certified Respiratory Function Scientist Accreditation)
