It serves a population of approximately 102,000, performs over 6,500 procedures a year and has over 19,000 inpatient episodes and 30,000 Emergency Department attendances a year and approximately 700 births per year.
We have onsite radiology, pathology and blood bank service.
NHW provides a wide range of acute specialist medical and surgical services, an emergency department, critical care unit (ICU, HDU, CCU), obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, specialised aged care, medical oncology services, community rehabilitation, inpatient, community, aged and psycho-geriatric mental health services.
NHW has recently completed a major redevelopment, including the building of a new emergency department, ICU, and expansion of medical and paediatric units.
Applications are invited from doctors who are wanting to undertake a PGY2 / 3 year at Northeast Health Wangaratta (NHW).
The HMO stream is designed to flexibly deliver career pathways for junior doctors.
HMOs may choose from any of the available hospital rotations to develop careers in medicine, general practice or other specialties.
Rotations essential to develop your HMO career are negotiated and guaranteed with the offer of contract.
Hospital Medical Officer (PGY2 / 3) The rotations on offer are as follows: Emergency Medicine, Psychiatry, Rehabilitation, Hospital in the Home and General Medicine.
Applicants will be required to discuss rotation preferences at Interview.
If you are an International Medical Graduate, we would require you to have recency of practice (ideally within the last 2 years).
