McLean Farms is a diversified family-owned agri-business based in Pittsworth, 30 minutes Southwest of Toowoomba.
Specialising in livestock and food production, the business is involved with a broad range of agricultural enterprises such as grain, compost and feed mill operations.
We are currently seeking Poultry Hands to join the Homestead team in a full-time capacity.
About the role This role is responsible for effectively and efficiently assisting in managing the environment to provide optimal conditions for layer hens to achieve maximum production daily while upholding strict animal welfare protocols.
You will be a dynamic self-starter and be passionate about supporting a collaborative working environment, in line with our culture and values.
Daily duties will include but not be limited to: Conducting feed, water and light checks, including general maintenance to equipment where necessary; Conducting environmental checks to ensure birds are comfortable; Conducting inspections on bird welfare, egg systems, and egg belts for ease of flow; General cleaning and servicing of sheds and equipment as required; Other duties as required.
About you: Live locally for call out purposes or prepared to relocate to the area would be highly regarded; Willingness to strictly adhere to the required animal welfare guidelines and regulations; Previous experience in the poultry industry is not essential, but would be highly regarded; Current valid drivers' licence; Strenuous physical activity may be involved, and therefore a robust physical nature is required to successfully fill this role; Be prepared to work as part of a team, but be able to work autonomously when required; Strong inter-personal skills, able to work co-operatively with internal and external contacts; Willingness to adhere to all health and safety, bio-security and operational requirements; Good written and verbal communication skills; Must be reliable, punctual and motivated; Good attention to detail; Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to carry out a range of different tasks.
