Salary Range: 67,589-72,033Classification: OPX3Engagement Type: Term ContractClosing Date: 26 Nov 2024Role HighlightsTake lead in monitoring, promoting and developing a high standard of practiceClient-focused roleExciting opportunity for those with a passion for working with young peopleAbout the BusinessOur Community and Aboriginal Partnerships Division helps to build community safety and wellbeing by providing support and services to children, young people and families, including those involved with the youth justice system, remote Aboriginal communities, people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, and people with complex and exceptional needs. The division also leads the department's Closing the Gap efforts.Role DetailsThe Home Detention Officer is a role within the Kurlana Tapa Youth Justice Centre and is accountable to the Operations Coordinator, Home Detention, for:Providing quality supervision of children and young people whilst operating Departmental Electronic Monitoring Systems to monitor their movements and ensure compliance with Mandates and Bail Conditions.Drug testing children and young people as directed by a Court order.Conducting property assessments to determine suitability of premises for electronic monitoring of identified children and young people.Consulting and liaising with Case Managers in relation to absences, planning and scheduling of arrangements and urine screening of allocated children and young people.Key outcomes and accountabilities:Provide supervision of all children and young people allocated to the States' Home Detention Program in accordance with court orders.Work collaboratively with Case Managers to support and assist children and young people to fulfil the requirements of individual case plans and conditions of Mandates.Manage the effective operation and maintenance of electronic monitoring equipment and software.Monitor, authorise and record movement requests by children and young people as authorised through court orders and individual case plans.Work effectively within Aboriginal and culturally and linguistically diverse frameworks to address the needs of children and young people.Communicate effectively with children and young people, their families and relevant stakeholders.Participate in program and strategy development for children and young people.Note: Any other responsibilities in line with the classification level of the role as assigned by Line Manager and/or the Department.
