About the Role
Part of the Statutory Planning team, this role provides detailed heritage advice, researches complex heritage issues and reviews heritage considerations relating to planning applications, planning scheme amendments and other Council wide functions.
Lead the preparation and provision of high quality heritage service and advice to internal and external customers to deliver quality heritage outcomes.Lead the preparation of detailed heritage planning advice and conduct research into complex multi-facetted heritage issues, including assessment of major projects and policies.Prepare and present high quality, well reasoned briefings and reports to Council, management and agencies with clear recommendations.Lead and represent Council to panel hearings and hearings at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, including briefing legal representatives and consultants when required.Subject to review lead the formulation of heritage planning scheme policies, research studies and guidelines.Assist in the review and monitoring of current internal planning policies and procedures. Skills & Experience
• Tertiary qualifications in urban planning (or related discipline) and/or urban design.
• Experience with heritage advice and design, urban design, statutory and strategic planning and policy development.
• Skills in project management and preparation of work plans to achieve set objectives within the resources available.
• Strong written, oral communication and presentation skills and well-developed customer service and liaison skills.
• Ability to research and analyse diverse and complex issues and develop innovative solutions.
• Skills in handling a variety of complex issues concurrently with minimal supervision.
