We now have an exciting opportunity for a Heritage Specialist to join our People, Safety and Culture team based in either our Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Young or Wagga Wagga location for a fixed term contract of 15 months.
Reporting directly to the Heritage Business Partner, a key responsibility of the Heritage Specialist role is leveraging heritage and First Nations related knowledge, experience, and insights to support the business with its operational and strategic decision making and to drive better performance.
Key Responsibilities
Engage with First Nations Peoples regarding APA's activities and seek to establish enduring relationships. Prepare, implement and maintain Cultural Heritage Management Plans (or equivalent) in consultation with all stakeholders. Facilitate assessment of heritage data for due diligence purposes and communicate outcomes to internal stakeholders. Design, coordinate and oversee delivery of heritage surveys to update MSP heritage records. This will include the engagement of specialist consultants and overseeing their performance. Prepare heritage data and submit for upload to the Geographic Information System (GIS). Provide advice and support to key internal stakeholders regarding heritage requirements, risks and management measures. Your background
Tertiary qualifications to degree level in archaeology or equivalent. Minimum 8 years experience working in archaeology or equivalent including ability to provide heritage advice and guidance to internal stakeholders and to engage with external stakeholders. Sound knowledge of heritage law and regulatory frameworks in NSW, South Australia, and Queensland. Aptitude for risk management, process and procedural improvement and business efficiency. Ability to engage and coach stakeholders and influence key decision makers across the organisation including senior managers to achieve results and outcomes.
