The Role
A permanent opportunity has come available with in Ventia for a Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our team on the Defence contract in Townsville at Lavarack Barracks.
The successful applicant will work on the vast array of Defence vehicle platforms including the new Rheinmetall transportation fleet as well as the armoured fighting vehicles like Abrams tanks, ASLAV reconnaissance vehicles and M113AS4 armoured personnel carriers.
Responsibilities
You will be conducting maintenance tasks, including technical inspection and classifications.
This may include:
Fitting and operating special test equipment, and test-drive vehiclesRepairing or replacing worn or faulty parts by removing assemblies such as engines, transmissions, differentials, or steering gear; dismantling them and checking parts, referring to manuals as necessaryCarrying out minor body repairs and minor trim repairsDiagnosing, repair and replace engine management and fuel injection componentsTesting and repairing electrical systems such as lighting, instrumentation, ignition, and electronic fuel injectionQualifications, Experience and Knowledge Cert III Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalentHold a current Australian State or Territory open driver's licence for Medium Rigid (MR)or Heavy Rigid (HR) classes of vehicles highly desirablePossess the demonstrated ability and practical experience to inspect, repair and maintain earth moving equipment and/or military armoured vehicles highly desirableDemonstrated ability to inspect, repair and maintain light, medium, and heavytransportation vehiclesOpen and clear communication within a team environment**You must be an Australian citizen and be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance
