Are you passionate about keeping people safe while supporting creativity in the Arts? We are seeking an adaptable team member, who thrives in face-to-face interactions and enjoys working with a diverse range of stakeholders.
This position plays a vital role in implementing university-wide Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) policies and procedures while tailoring solutions to meet the unique needs of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music. You will provide specialist advice on OH&S policies, legislative requirements, and risk management, ensuring the highest safety standards in a dynamic and creative environment.
Flexibility and a proactive mindset are key as you navigate complex situations, solve non-linear challenges, and guide students and staff to think ahead about safety. Your ability to balance safety with creativity will support academic programs and events, helping identify risks, implement mitigation strategies, and foster an inclusive, accessible environment where innovation and artistic excellence thrive.
Your responsibilities will include: Coordinating effective and efficient delivery of health and safety services to the faculty within established University policies and procedures and government legislation.Collaborating with academic, professional and creative staff in the identification of risks and hazards.Mentoring and empowering departmental staff, fostering a proactive safety culture.Designing and leading specialised training and induction programs for staff, contractors and students.Attending Performing and Visual Arts planning meetings, reviewing risk assessments and supporting OHS inspections.Who We Are Looking For
You may be working in the Arts or a creative industry, where you've developed a passion for keeping people safe while fostering innovation. You understand the unique challenges of fine arts, film, theatre and music environments and thrive in roles that require adaptability and creative problem-solving. With confidence in face-to-face interactions, you're comfortable engaging with students and staff, providing training and advice.
You will also have: Relevant experience in a similar role with a degree and/or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training within the arts or entertainment industry or Health and Safety.Demonstrated experience in the coordination and implementation of health, safety and risk management procedures within Live Performance/Fine Arts/ Film & TV Industries.Developed organisational skills and capability for multi-tasking and prioritisation, problem solving and effective time management.This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check.
