Scotch College has a rare opportunity for an enthusiastic and passionate teacher, with demonstrated ability to teach within their curriculum area, to lead in our boarding community as Head of Senior School Residence. The successful candidate will be a crucial member of the Boarding Leadership Team, responsible for the pastoral care of residential students and their families. Pastoral care is exercised through developing positive relationships with each resident and parent, so each boy can grow to his full potential in a supportive and caring environment.
This is a full-time ongoing teaching position with an initial (three-year position of responsibility) appointment to the Head of Senior School Residence. The successful candidate will be provided accommodation in a Scotch College onsite residence, competitive remuneration, and 0.4 FTE time allocation for additional after-hours boarding house supervision and responsibilities. This position will commence in January 2025 or as soon as available.
The ideal candidate will have an exceptional track record in pastoral care and student leadership in a Boarding environment. They will also be able to demonstrate outstanding levels of achievement in their curriculum area.
Our ideal candidate will have:
Qualifications in Secondary teaching, successful teaching background and demonstrated ability as an exemplary teacher in their curriculum area; Strong Emotional Intelligence with the ability to communicate effectively, manage relationships, build rapport, and trust with others, and make appropriate decisions to achieve positive results; Demonstrated leadership capabilities with ability to develop leadership traits within students to assist them to reach their full potential; Contribute to the identifiable and positive Boarding community culture; An ability to form strong relationships with the broader Boarding community; Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to mentor and provide excellent pastoral care; Demonstrated understanding of cultural diversity; A willingness to contribute to our extensive programme of co-curricular activities; including Scotch Boarding's Bibbulmun Track programme; A strong commitment to and understanding of wellbeing and the pastoral care of students; An awareness of issues facing adolescent students, with the ability to use initiative to identify challenges early and develop appropriate support strategies; The ability to utilise ICT systems in the workplace; A willingness to embrace Scotch College values of Service, Integrity, and Stewardship, underpinned by the values of the Uniting Church in Australia.
