Reporting directly to the Chief People Officer, you'll have full autonomy and own the Work Health & Safety (WHS) strategy for the bank. This is your opportunity to design, lead, and deliver a safety roadmap that not only meets compliance standards but sets a benchmark for excellence.
Lead a small, dynamic team to develop and deliver our WHS Strategy.Partner with stakeholders across the business to build and embed a proactive safety culture.Champion continuous improvement in physical and psychological safety across a diverse, evolving organisation.Provide expert advice to the Chief People Officer and Executive Team, ensuring WHS remains a strategic priority.This is a unique opportunity to shape and lead transformational change in a people-first organisation, where innovation and collaboration are celebrated.
Your key responsibilities:Strategic Leadership: Develop and deliver the WHS strategy and operational plans aligned with organisational goals.Safety Culture: Embed a proactive and preventative safety mindset across the bank.Harmonised Systems: Deliver a unified, consistent safety management system across the organisation.Compliance & Reporting: Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, manage reporting to the Board and Executive, and oversee state-based workers' compensation schemes.Risk Management: Implement effective risk identification, mitigation, and hazard control processes.Incident Management: Oversee investigations, ensure timely support, and drive resolutions to prevent recurrence.Wellbeing Advocacy: Lead initiatives that promote physical and psychological wellbeing, including managing the WHS Committee and Mental Health Ambassadors.What you will bring:Expertise: 5 - 10 years in health and safety roles within white-collar industries, with 3+ years in leadership positions.Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of WHS legislation, Codes of Practice, and Standards across multiple jurisdictions.Leadership: Proven ability to influence and engage across all levels, from frontline teams to executives.Strategy: Experience developing and implementing WHS strategies in diverse environments.Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in WHS/OHS or a related discipline, and a current driver's licence.Why you'll love working with us:People First Bank - our new brand - says exactly what we're all about: people.
