Our Story
At Safewill, we're reshaping end-of-life planning in Australia, making it more affordable, personal, and accessible for all. Since our launch, we've grown rapidly and are now one of the country's fastest-growing tech companies. Backed by leading investors like Westpac's Reinventure Fund, Carthona Capital, and Flying Fox Ventures, we're scaling fast—and we need a leader to drive our people strategy to ensure we continue attracting and developing top talent.
But let's be real—working at a startup is challenging. There's no playbook, and you'll be building from scratch most of the time. This is a hands-on role where you'll not only help scale our people operations but also coach and develop our talent to achieve their highest potential.
Your Story with Us
You're currently a Head of People, and have been through a scale-up at least once before. You'll be bringing your experience, learnings and playbook to help shape the way Safewill scales, owning the entire People function and making a direct impact on our growth and culture. This is your chance to lead with purpose and grow alongside a high-performing team.
Over the first 6-12 months, you will:
Develop and execute a comprehensive people strategy aligned with our growth objectives and company culture, supporting both short-and long-term goals.
Partner with the executive team to shape leadership development and coaching programs, ensuring leaders at all levels are equipped for success.
Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance work culture that aligns with our company values. Lead initiatives to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
Oversee recruitment efforts to attract top-tier talent, ensuring we are building a diverse and high-performing team.
Guide the company through scaling challenges, ensuring organisational structure, processes, and people are equipped for rapid growth.
Implement and manage a robust performance review and feedback process, aligning team performance with company objectives.
Partner with finance and leadership to refine and scale our compensation and benefits strategy, ensuring competitive offerings for employees.
P&C is currently Led by Emily (P&C lead), who is a strong performer within our business. This person would be responsible for continuing to grow and develop Emily and any future hire into the team. We want to be confident in your leadership and team development abilities.
Why Join Safewill?
If you're looking for easy, this isn't it. Startups are challenging, especially when you're one of the first players in the space. But if you thrive on solving complex problems, driving change, and building something from scratch, this role offers the perfect next step in your career.
Here's why Safewill is right for you:
Build from the ground up: If you're someone who thrives on shaping teams and people strategies from scratch, Safewill is your playground. You'll have the autonomy to create and implement systems, processes, and programs that will shape the future of the company as we scale.
Be a developer of talent: You're someone who gets true satisfaction from seeing others succeed. At Safewill, you'll mentor and grow leaders, both in your own team and across the business. You'll be instrumental in their journey and take pride in their growth.
Strategic & Operational Impact: You'll get to be both strategic and hands-on, guiding Safewill through a period of rapid growth. You'll balance high-level thinking with a focus on operational efficiency, ensuring our people and culture strategy is scalable and future-ready.
A culture of support and collaboration: Safewill is all about flexibility, autonomy, and support. You'll be joining a team that values collaboration and results, not micromanagement. This is a space where you can build, mentor, and lead with purpose.
