The Head of Humanities works collaboratively to deliver innovative learning and educational strategies, focusing on leading a team and program that supports the strategic direction of Wilderness School. This is a three-year tenured leadership role with a permanent substantive teaching position to commence Term 1, 2025. Experience teaching Modern History or Philosophy would be an advantage.
About the Role: The Head of Humanities will lead the faculty to build curiosity, imagination and creativity in learning for students. They will ensure the strategic priorities of the faculty are achieved, in addition to leading a focus on the pursuit of academic excellence and curriculum development.
Other key areas of focus include:
Building expertise in contemporary and innovative teaching methodologies and engagement in learning.Building a deep understanding of learning by students and in delivery by teachers.Developing and implementing processes to guarantee accuracy and consistency of standards, outcomes and benchmarks in assessment and curricula.Developing positive and collaborative relationships between faculty staff and the professional learning community. About you – you will demonstrate: Excellence in curriculum design, innovation and implementation, including the integration of appropriate digital technologies that support student learning.Experience in leading a team managing responsive and flexible programs. Exemplary teaching practice - leading classroom innovation by example.A supportive and collaborative management and leadership style that nurtures, challenges and inspires students and staff.Exceptional communication skills coupled with highly developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to relate effectively and build relationships with key stakeholders.
