About the role Goodman is seeking applications for a technically skilled and results-oriented Fire expert to join the Operations team.
The successful candidate will provide expert technical guidance for managing Fire, and Essential Safety Measures (ESMs), including Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVAC-R) services across the national portfolio.
The Head of Fire Services and Essential Safety Measures will ensure performance criteria are met, risks are effectively managed, and Goodman Australia complies with all regulatory and compliance requirements.
Key responsibilities: End to end subject matter expert for the management of Fire and HVAC-R services and systems including the essential safety measure certification processes for the Australian national portfolio Lead a team of Fire and HVAC-R specialists, supporting their continuous professional development, the effective service delivery to support the business and achieve your key responsibilities and objectives Management and delivery of key Fire and HVAC-R capital work specifications by ensuring projects are clearly scoped in accordance with all relevant standards, Building Codes of Australia, Codes of Practices, and other legislative and statutory requirements Management of the Fire and HVAC-R Services framework to ensure that it is executed in accordance with both legislative and statutory requirements, Australian Standards and Building Codes as well as Goodman requirements Offer technical advice and support to the Property Services and Building Services teams Communicate with stakeholders the impact of market and technology changes and their potential effects. Recommend solutions without compromising quality or service while optimising cost Manage customer relationships with clear written and verbal communication on all essential fire safety measures, systems, and compliance matters Provide expert input and guidance with the management, certification, and registration of essential fire safety measures Create, manage, and update Fire and HVAC-R Goodman processes, position papers, standards, memos and work instructions Provide CAPEX recommendations for Fire and HVAC-R assets/system renewals/upgrades About You In addition, the successful candidate will have:
Over 5 years of experience in the Fire and HVAC-R services sector, either on the service provider or client side Completed a diploma or higher in Building Surveying, Fire Engineering/System Design or Mechanical Engineering Experience managing essential fire safety measures and compliance processes in the Property industry (industrial/commercial), a national Fire services firm or a firm acting as an 'Owners Agent' Demonstrated experience in managing large maintenance service programs across multiple properties, including reviewing, and setting of service level agreements Comprehensive understanding of the certification and registration processes for essential fire safety measures and compliance in New South Wales, Queensland, and Victoria Understanding of legislative and statutory framework in New South Wales, Queensland, and Victoria to ensure key Fire and HVAC-R capital works are clearly scoped. Knowledge of Australian Standards, Building Codes of Australia, Codes of Practices as well as other State legislative and statutory requirements relevant to fire and essential services Demonstrated understanding of the NCC/Building Code of Australia, and working knowledge of relevant standards AS1851, AS2118, AS2419, AS2441, AS2941 and AS1670, DA19, AS 3666, AS 1668 Ability to prepare specifications for capital projects and perform technical evaluations of tenders Demonstrated awareness of essential services systems and measures, legislation, and contract management Possess a thorough understanding of the certification and registration processes for essential fire safety measures and compliance in New South Wales, Queensland, and Victoria Extensive Project Management experience with the ability to scope, plan and execute projects within Goodman frameworks, ensuring they meet the required scope and budget Results orientated with ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage, negotiate and manage key stakeholders and suppliers (internal and external) Advanced level of computer literacy Demonstrate commitment to the Goodman values.
