APPLICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION CLOSE AT MIDDAY ON FRIDAY, 25 OCTOBER 2024 About the Job The Head of Development at Perth Zoo is responsible for developing and providing leadership and management for the fundraising program. This newly developed role involves collaborating with the Board and Executive team to actively seek and secure financial support from individuals, corporates, and foundations, with a focus on securing and stewarding major donations. We are seeking someone with a proven track record as the successful candidate will be responsible for achieving year-on-year increases in funds raised for the Zoo's impressive conservation and animal welfare work.
Key responsibilities include: Developing and implementing fundraising strategies and programs that align with the Perth Zoo Master Plan.Leading fundraising initiatives critical to the execution of major projects outlined in the Master Plan.Establishing and leading a team of fundraising experts.At Perth Zoo, we have adopted Leadership Expectations which provides a common understanding of the mindsets and expected behaviours required of all our employees and the public sector. In this role, you will be a Multiple Area Leader to help drive positive change.
About You Proven strategic thinker with the capability to develop and implement effective fundraising strategies and plans.Demonstrated success in securing major donations (gifts or grants) with the ability to identify and form valuable and enduring partnerships.A comprehensive network that can be leveraged to achieve year on year results.Experienced in analysing data from audience insights and systems to inform strategies.Strong ability to collaborate across teams and engage with external stakeholders.Exceptional leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.Selection Criteria Applicants should address the following three (3) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than three (3) pages in total.
Establish and lead a comprehensive fundraising program at Perth Zoo to consistently achieve 15-20 percent annual growth in philanthropic and corporate support.Build and manage a small team of fundraising professionals as progress and budget permits.Collaborate with the Zoo leadership to identify opportunities that can be developed into compelling funding proposals, and work closely with Board Members and influential external stakeholders across WA to drive fundraising success.Note: The successful applicant will be required to possess or obtain a current (issue date not older than 6 months) and satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencement.
Eligibility: To be eligible for permanent appointment, it is essential to have Australian citizenship, New Zealand citizenship or Australian permanent residency status.
