About Woodridge State High School Woodridge State High School opened in January 1972. Enrolments at Woodridge State School continued to rise rapidly in the early 1970s, following an influx of British migrants. In January 1974, enrolments totalled 1,689 students, making it the biggest school in Queensland at the time. Woodridge State High School was founded out of a passion to provide the best possible educational opportunities for students in the Woodridge area. The school is gearing up for its 50th anniversary in 2022 to look back over half a century of memories.
Since that time we have created strong traditions of building partnerships, enabling choice, empowering students, and establishing high expectations within our learning community. Our school boasts a strong multicultural student population reflective of our Logan community, and we are especially proud of the ways in which we celebrate richness and diversity in student backgrounds. Woodridge State High School now educates approximately 1400 students from over 60 cultural backgrounds.
About the Role You will have responsibility for leading the following activities and delivery of the following key tasks:
Provide leadership and guidance for the implementation of innovative measures aimed at improving student learning outcomes and attendance in schools where a significant percentage of students may have a disadvantaged background, ensuring quality learning outcomes for all students. Where requested, prepare all data returns for the Principal. Provide management and engagement strategies including induction activities of new arrivals, and advise on specific academic, social and emotional needs of new arrivals. Monitor students' individual performance and behaviour and develop and implement intervention strategies where necessary. Communicate and work with parents, staff, higher education institutes and State Schools Division to develop strategies to improve learning outcomes, student achievements and attendance.
