Sarina State School are seeking applications for a temporary full-time Head of Department, Student Engagement to join their school community from 08 July 2024 until 13 December 2024, unless otherwise determined.

Within this role you will focus on initiatives tosupport the educational outcomes for students. Oversee the quality of teaching and learning. Supporting teachers in their day-to-day teaching, identifying and addressing the learning needs of individual students, including high achieving students. Promote and develop research-based teaching practices in all classrooms, that ensure every student is engaged, challenged and learning successfully.

About Sarina State School Built on Yuwibara Country, Plane Creek Provisional School opened the doors to students on August 5, 1897. 15 years later, in 1912, this school became known as Sarina State School. Today, Sarina State School consists of more than 24 classrooms, 2 computer labs, state-of-the-art Sports Hall and conference room, 3 covered play areas, a dedicated music room, playground, oval, and outdoor courts.
We are proud of our facilities, but these would mean nothing if it wasn't for the outstanding staff who continually contribute to positive outcomes for students. Quality pedagogical practice is the cornerstone of our school as we all believe, "Every student deserves a great teacher, not by chance, but by design" (Fisher, Frey, Hattie).

About the Role Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provide leadership and guidance for the implementation of innovative measures aimed at improving student learning outcomes and attendance in schools where a significant percentage of students may have a disadvantaged background, ensuring quality learning outcomes for all students.Where requested, prepare all data returns for senior management.Monitor students' individual performance and behaviour and develop and implement intervention strategies where necessary.Communicate and work with parents, higher education institutes and State Schools Division to improve learning outcomes, student achievements and attendance.Please refer to the attached role description for any mandatory requirements for this position.
