We now have an exciting opportunity for a Lecturer, Science and Society to join our team at the Discipline of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences within the Academy.
Full-time and continuing Located at the picturesque Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus in tropical North Queensland ACAD Level B $106,593 - $125,774 per annum plus up to 17% employer superannuation contributions, leave loading and other generous employee benefits ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a dynamic and engaging research and teaching academic in the Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences at JCU.
We seek scholars with expertise linking the social sciences with other sciences, who have a desire and a willingness to work in an interdisciplinary manner.
While the appointee may identify with any HASS discipline, we particularly seek applicants with the ability to teach sociology subjects.
The successful applicants will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in the Bachelor of Arts degree and other degrees at JCU.
You will also have opportunities to advise Higher Degree by Research students, and will be expected to research and publish in your discipline and in an interdisciplinary manner.
Your appointment will be on the basis of your PhD in a relevant HASS discipline.
We are especially seeking applicants with strong links to natural sciences, physical sciences, technology, and/or health fields, who have a willingness to develop and deliver teaching and research across a variety of units in the university.
In addition to a PhD, we seek applicants with relevant teaching experience, and a research track record relative to opportunity.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE PhD in a relevant HASS discipline with some connections to natural science, physical science, health, and/or technology fields, with significant progress (relative to opportunity) towards establishing a track record of impactful research. Demonstrated experience in research or scholarly activities with the ability to produce high quality outputs. Demonstrated experience in high quality teaching at undergraduate level, preferably with an ability to teach a range of interdisciplinary core subjects as well as discipline-specific content, with the ability to teach into sociology subjects. Ability to inspire learning among our students by developing high quality subject material and to coordinate undergraduate subjects taught across diverse cohorts of students. Ability to work independently and within team environments and contribute to a strong and progressive collegial culture. Commitment to principles of equity and diversity; knowledge of occupational health and safety responsibilities; commitment to continuous improvement in teaching, research, and professional life. Willingness to contribute to the supervision of research students.
