The Opportunity Our dynamic Humanities department is experiencing rapid growth and is central to delivering an enriching and transformative education. This full-time ongoing position commencing January 2025 encompasses 0.8 teaching and 0.2 leadership.
The Head of Department centers with a passion for student growth and engagement, which is essential in building strong relationships with staff, students, parents, and the community.
This leadership will comprise strong organizational and communication skills. Students are immersed in an innovative environment that enhances their exploration of Humanities subjects, which align with our College's commitment to fostering critical thinking, creativity, and a passion for lifelong learning.
About the Role In addition to curriculum leadership, the successful candidate will be an outstanding classroom practitioner, support professional development, and promote pedagogical excellence within the Humanities department.
Design, development and implementation of the Humanities curriculum across Years 7 to 12. Ensuring innovation, mentoring, fostering a collaborative and inquiry-based learning environment. Ensure the diverse needs of our students and align with the College's mission and strategic goals. Support the department's continued growth by introducing new subjects and fostering cross-curricular opportunities that inspire students to engage with global issues. Ensure that teaching practices are aligned with the latest educational research, and experience with programs such as AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) and Visible Learning is highly desirable to enhance instructional effectiveness and student outcomes.
