This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2025 The WA College of Agriculture – Cunderdin is seeking a passionate, forward-thinking and experienced leader for the role of Head of Department - Curriculum.
Our College is a nationally recognised education and training institution and a 'school of choice', offering students in Year 11 and 12 an innovative approach to learning. Our College is made up of four primary areas – Farm, Trade Training Centre, Class and Residential, all of which provide interactive and engaging learning programs for students. Prospective enrolments apply years in advance and undergo a rigorous application and interview process. Placements are in high demand as a result of the College's exceptional reputation, enterprise programs and student outcomes and was awarded the 2023 WA Small Training Provider of the Year Award, and was a finalist for Excellence in Teaching and Learning in the 2023 WA Education Awards.
Our College is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), offering a variety of nationally accredited certificate training courses and our facilities, plant and equipment are always at the cutting edge of industry standards. The college also offers a robust Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) pathway which embeds the college's enterprise systems and data within classroom learning programs to well-prepare students for post-school tertiary pathway opportunities.
The ideal applicant will be a highly-skilled practitioner and have the capacity to develop staff, with a focus on high quality teaching, performance and accountability. You should provide purposeful and focused leadership and effectively lead the daily management of the Class area. With the ability to lead change and innovation, you will use evidence-based data to inform all decision making.
It is an exciting time to lead the 'Curriculum' area of our College. As Head of Curriculum you will be leading a committed and dynamic team of highly capable practitioners across multiple learning areas to continue to implement and embed the context-specific teaching framework which incorporates Explicit Instruction pedagogies and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) critical thinking processes and practices.
The successful applicant should understand the learning needs of all students, inclusive of students requiring remedial intervention in either literacy or numeracy and have experience in establishing programs, processes and strategies to assist students with disability or specific learning disorders to achieve their potential. In addition, you will have the capacity to develop and implement strategies to support and extend capable students and continue to grow the ATAR pathway which is a College priority.
You will ideally be a team player and collaborate with all areas of the College to support holistic student success. You will achieve this through having exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on collegiality and establishing effective working relationships with students, staff, parents and the broader community.
