The Intensive Trauma Treatment Centre (ITTC) is exactly what the name suggests – an intensive treatment program for people struggling with posttraumatic stress and associated conditions. The ITTC is staffed by senior psychologists experienced in delivery prolonged imaginal exposure (PE), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), and EMDR 2.0 to treat posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex-PTSD, and associated conditions (e.g. adjustment disorder, generalised anxiety disorder, major depression, persistent depression).

About the Role The Intensive Trauma Treatment Centre (ITTC) is seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Clinical to lead our clinical team in delivering exceptional trauma-informed care for current and former members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF). The successful candidate will be responsible for the strategic oversight and management of clinical services, ensuring the provision of high-quality, evidence-based treatment to individuals affected by trauma. This role requires a leader with a deep understanding of trauma, excellent clinical skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive and healing environment for both clients and staff. The clinician must be skilled in EMDR and/or trauma-focussed CBT (e.g., imaginal exposure). Experience with both is preferable but a willingness to upskill is welcome if not experienced in both.
Key Responsibilities: Clinical Leadership Provide visionary leadership for clinical services, ensuring alignment with ITTC's mission to support current and former ADF members and their families.Develop and implement clinical protocols and treatment pathways that adhere to best practices in trauma-informed care for a diverse clientele.Team Management Recruit, train, and supervise clinical staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and professional development tailored to the unique needs of trauma survivors.Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide mentorship and support to clinical team members.Quality Assurance Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards, accreditation requirements, and internal policies specific to trauma care.Implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery and client outcomes for ADF members and others seeking support.Clinical Supervision Provide clinical supervision and consultation to staff, addressing complex cases related to trauma and promoting the use of evidence-based practices.Facilitate regular case reviews and interdisciplinary team meetings to ensure comprehensive care for clients.Program Development Collaborate with the executive team to design and implement innovative treatment programs tailored to the needs of trauma survivors, including those with non-military-related trauma.Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making adjustments as necessary based on feedback and outcomes.Stakeholder Engagement Foster partnerships with community organizations, referral sources, and other stakeholders to enhance service accessibility and continuity of care for ADF members and their families.Represent ITTC in professional and community forums, advocating for the mental health needs of current and former military personnel.Research and Education Stay abreast of the latest developments in trauma treatment and integrate new findings into clinical practice.Lead staff training initiatives and contribute to the professional development of the clinical team focused on trauma care.Qualifications: Master's degree or higher in psychology, social work, counselling, or a related field.Experience: Minimum of 7 years of clinical experience, with a focus on trauma-informed care and treatment.Previous leadership experience in a clinical setting, preferably within a mental health or trauma-focused organisation.Skills: Strong clinical assessment and intervention skills with a broad understanding of various trauma experiences.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders, including veterans and military personnel.Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams in a clinical setting.Proficiency in data analysis and quality improvement methodologies.How to Apply If you're looking for a rewarding role in a compassionate and dynamic healthcare team, we'd love to hear from you.
