We are seeking a Head of Campus to lead a new service in Cairns which is set to open in 2025. The successful applicant will lead the education program in Cairns and will report to the Executive Principal, Queensland Children's Hospital School, Brisbane.

This new position, Head of Campus - Cairns Hospital Education Programs, is based in Cairns and will form part of the executive leadership team at the Queensland Children's Hospital School in Brisbane.

The successful applicant will need to be committed to embedding the Department of Education's Equity and Excellence strategy. This position will require some travel to Brisbane and regional areas, as well as a commitment to virtual and online opportunities.

About the Role The Head of Campus, Cairns Hospital Education Programs will be responsible for:
Establishing the education program at the new Cairns Youth Alcohol and Other Drugs Residential Rehabilitation Service (scheduled to open mid-2025)Working in collaboration with Queensland Health to establish the model of service for the new Cairns Youth Alcohol and Other Drugs Residential Rehabilitation ServiceCollaborating with FNQ Department of Education staff and schoolsWorking with a Non-Government Organisation (NGO) to determine the operation of the siteCollaborating with a range of agencies in FNQLeading the recruitment processes for education staffDetermining educational support required at a non-residential treatment and support program, operating from a separate location in the same vicinityLeading the current hospital education program based at the Cairns Hospital paediatric and adolescent ward, in partnership with Woree State High SchoolWorking with the Executive Principal and Senior Leadership Team of the Queensland Children's Hospital School to plan and deliver new hospital education programs planned for the Cairns area in the coming years.

Experience in establishing and leading successful educational servicesExperience in providing contextualised support tailored to meet the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, their families and their communityDemonstrated qualities to support young people who present with challenging behaviour, lifestyle and/or complex mental health conditionsCommitment to working with local groups and forming positive partnershipsExperience working with a Non-Government Organisation (NGO) to support young peopleAbility to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a teamOutstanding interpersonal and communication skillsPlease refer to the attached role description for any mandatory requirements for this position.
