Permanent, Part Time, 24hrs/week (16hrs H&N CNC, 8hrs SLN) About the Role
The Head and Neck Nurse Coordinator/ ENT Elective Surgical Liaison Nurse is responsible for supporting and facilitating the provision of continuous quality care to the patients diagnosed with cancer. They will provide a contact point to assist patients and their carers as well as act as the central liaison for clinicians and multidisciplinary teams involved in the patients care.
The Head and Neck Nurse Coordinator/ENT Elective Surgical Liaison Nurse will co-ordinate, negotiate and manage the transition of care of patients throughout the continuum. They will be primarily responsible for managing the Planned Surgery waiting list according to the waiting list policy, streamline the elective admission process, and work towards decreasing wait for surgery and length of stay.
The Head and Neck Nurse Coordinator/ENT Elective Surgical Liaison Nurse will coordinate the theatre schedule with consideration for patient's clinical urgency and equitable draw down from the elective surgery waiting list.
The Head and Neck Nurse Coordinator/ENT Elective Surgical Liaison Nurse is required to perform the duties in accordance with the philosophy of the Sisters of charity and in reference to the SVHM Planned Surgery Waiting List Policy and the Department of Health Elective Surgery Access Policy.
Classifications for this position will range be Surgical Liaison Nurse Grade 3B RN28 ($107,390 per annum pro rata) and Clinical Nurse Coordinator ZJ4 ($119,329 Per Annum, Pro Rata)
Your Contribution Bachelor of Nursing, which meets the registration requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
Current Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia through AHPRA
Awareness of the Planned Surgery Policy and the Department of Health requirements.
Minimum 3 years postgraduate acute surgical nursing experience
Head & Neck cancer nursing experience highly desirable

About Elective Surgery Team
The Planned Surgery Management Team (PSMT) coordinates and case managers patients that are on the St Vincent's Hospital elective surgery waiting list in accordance with the elective surgery waiting list policy and the Department of Health Elective Surgery Access Policy. The PSMT is responsible for the case management all patients across the surgical specialties at SVHM. The PSMT also provides a streamlined system for transferring state wide, and occasionally interstate, elective surgery patients from health services to treat patients requiring ENT/Head and Neck surgery.
