Permanent full-time position  38 hours per week  Sandown Racecourse Rate: $30-$35 per hour depending on experience Are you a natural leader with a green thumb and an eye for detail?

As a Head Gardener, you will have the opportunity to assist with leading a skilled team, ensuring our client's standards of garden maintenance are met and exceeded.

Responsibilities  This is a dual role based at Sandown Racecourse managing the gardens and grounds side for the Melbourne Racing Club, while also assisting on the sports turf side of the contract when required You will need to create nutrition and spray programs for gardens and lawns.
Make sure important areas like the winning post, mounting yard, and formal lawns look great for race days and TV events.
You'll also work with event and track management.
Assist with leading a team of maintenance staff, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently.
Follow schedules and prioritise tasks to ensure timely completion of garden maintenance activities, including planting, hedging, weeding, pruning and fertilising.
Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to the team to enhance their horticultural skills and safety practices.
Regularly inspect garden areas to assess their condition, identify improvements needed, and implement corrective actions.
