Matso's has always been a little different, but we're proud of that. Sometimes our remoteness has forced our hand, other times the heat has driven us to think differently about flavour and refreshment. From tropical places, with tropical heat, it takes a lot of Australian character and a great sense of humour to thrive.Starting life as Australia's most remote brewery at our spiritual home in Broome WA, Matso's is now enjoyed at pubs, bars and backyards right across the country. In late December 2023 we launched Matso's on the other side of the country in Eumundi on the beautiful and laid-back Sunshine Coast.Inspired by our original, our second home taps into the heritage of an old Queensland pub with a newly renovated building in the back, bringing a large indoor and outdoor area made for the family or for a late arvo Ginger Beer on ice.The Venue:Located on the main street of EumundiOperational micro-brewery and distillery with full-time brewer on siteAll day dining, 7 days a week400+ seats plus a big outdoor areaThe head chef will lead and execute the food direction at Matsos Sunshine Coast. The menu has been influenced by our original home in Broome, WA. It's a multicultural place, where Asian meets the Australian pub classic.The head chef will need good systems, menu development experience, people management and financial controls. This kitchen has very busy periods on Wednesdays, Saturday and Sunday lunch periods and experience in high-volume kitchens will be favourable. The role is well-supported with an executive chef and hospitality management team (remotely) but the role will have the autonomy to control the kitchen and have creative input into the menu, specials and sourcing local ingredients.In this role, you'll provide experiences through your genuine care for guests. As well as:Mentor and coach junior chefs.Hands-on approach in the kitchen.Ensuring food is prepared and presented to standards.Control food and labour costs.Bring creative ideas to hero the food.Design menus to cater to the local area and people visiting the Sunshine Coast.Manage kitchen operations, hiring, maintenance, supplier engagement.Work to and report on key performance metrics.Sponsorship is available for the right candidate.Minimum Requirements:Qualifications in food safety management and commercial cookery qualifications (preferably cert 3 & 4)A broad and in-depth understanding of hospitality including local and industry trends, key suppliers, and customers.Regulatory and legal compliance knowledge and understanding of implications to the business.Detailed knowledge in the financial management of food operations, managing budgets, wage forecasting, sales analysis, and reporting.Experience in cloud-based kitchen management software (Cooking the Books)Rostering using systems similar to deputy / employment heroYour application will include the following questions:Are you legally entitled to work in Australia?What is the notice period for your current employment?Please provide your salary expectations:What motivated you to apply for this position?What relevant skills and experience would you bring to this role?At Good Drinks Australia, we continue to redefine the landscape of beer and alcoholic drinks.
