The Role We are seeking a passionate and experienced Head Chef to lead our dynamic kitchen team.
Reporting directly to the Venue Manager, the Head Chef will bring creativity, leadership and operational expertise to deliver an exceptional dining experience.
This is a hands-on role that combines culinary excellence with a focus on team development, operational efficiency and a commitment to quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities Lead the food preparation process and ensure exceptional quality standards.
Develop and implement seasonal menus that align with Mary Mae's riverside charm.
Manage kitchen budgets, labor costs, and stock control with precision.
Maintain food safety, WH&S standards, and kitchen compliance.
Hire, train, and mentor a motivated and collaborative kitchen team.
Handle rostering, attendance records and staff performance reviews.
Innovate with new dishes and stay ahead of food trends.
Actively participate in service, leading by example in the kitchen.
About You: Minimum 3 years of experience in a Head Chef or similar role.
Strong leadership, communication, and time-management skills.
Passion for fresh, local produce and the ability to craft creative menus for Venue, Events and Pop up festivals.
Comprehensive knowledge of kitchen operations and systems.
Experience managing budgets, ordering supplies, and monitoring costs.
Hands-on chef who leads by example, thriving in a high-volume environment.
Proficiency in computer systems to support kitchen administration.
