Description Mission statement: Provide strategic direction, leadership, management, and coordination of the engineering function across business units. Drive the performance of the engineering function to ensure that all engineering activities meet the required safety, integrity, financial, and contractual requirements. Initiate and drive continuous improvement activities across the function.
Your responsibilities: You will act as a member of the business unit management team providing strategic and operational guidance to support ongoing development of the business, serving as an escalation point for individual and systemic engineering issues within the organization.
You will manage customer relationships at a senior level, develop long-term relationships with key customers, work with the customer to shape and deliver solutions, seek feedback, and innovate with the customer to drive and deliver improvement, work with business development to target new opportunities, present new technology and innovation at conferences and client events, oversee contractual work within your business units, conduct regular progress reviews, and identify and manage contract risks.
You will create and manage the implementation of long-term strategic plans that define business strategy resource requirements, oversee planning and control processes in the engineering teams, conduct regular reviews to ensure the execution of tenders/projects according to agreed targets in terms of schedule, quality, cost, and customer satisfaction, monitor quality metrics, identify opportunities for improvement, and oversee improvement activities. You will create and implement strategies to ensure that business risks are identified and managed, and business opportunities are exploited as part of business planning, collaborating with the supply chain function to develop strategic partnerships with key suppliers of services and equipment needed for engineering.
You will guide the business in building engineering/operational capability through training, mentoring, and shadowing programs, support the business unit in establishing and deploying required frameworks/processes, conduct and follow up on the certification process jointly with the business, ensure processes are in place to capture and share best practices and operational experiences, support global business unit strategy by defining concepts for business unit-specific Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), compliance, and supply chain management, and developing processes and tools, conducting management reviews to guide the operation of continuous improvement activities.
You will ensure (with HR support) that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed, skilled, and directed, guide, motivate, coach, and develop direct and indirect subordinates within HR policies, contribute to the management review of the business unit's financial performance along with other business unit management team members, and formulate financial plans and budget estimates for the unit/business area, overseeing adherence to these plans and estimates.

Your background: Minimum Bachelor of Engineering with good experience in power industries and substation business.
Master of Engineering will be an added advantage.
10 to 15 years of Engineering experience in design and engineering of Substations, with working experience in a global organization.
Good knowledge of engineering tools and processes.
Should have handled cross-country units and experience in the implementation of new processes and initiatives.
Proficiency in English Communication.
