Job Title: Rolling Stock Fleet Engineering Manager

About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Fleet Engineering Manager to lead a Major Australian Rail Project through its Through Life Support (TLS) phase. This is a full-time, senior-level position requiring relocation to Australia, and is instrumental in ensuring the reliability, availability, and maintainability of our passenger train fleet.
As the Fleet Engineering Manager, you will oversee a team of fleet engineers responsible for maintaining and improving fleet performance through robust maintenance documentation, failure investigation, and rectification via the Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) process. You will report functionally to the Executive Management Team and serve as a key influence on client stakeholders, including train operators, advocating for the effectiveness of TLS activities.
Key Responsibilities: Fleet Performance Management: Ensure optimal performance, safety, and cost-effectiveness of the fleet through effective management and continuous improvement of maintenance activities. Leadership & Team Development: Manage and mentor a team of fleet engineers to enhance technical competency and capability. Failure Investigation & Rectification: Oversee failure analysis and resolution processes using FRACAS methodologies. Stakeholder Influence: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the train operator, to advocate for maintenance effectiveness and technical excellence. Documentation & Compliance: Develop and refine maintenance documents and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. Continuous Improvement: Drive the efficiency and effectiveness of maintenance strategies and processes. Qualifications & Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience managing passenger train fleets with a focus on safety, reliability, and cost efficiency. Proven success in outsourced specialist maintenance environments. Demonstrated technical expertise in rolling stock maintenance and engineering. Strong people management skills with a passion for developing team capabilities. Effective communication and influencing skills, particularly with senior stakeholders. Compensation & Benefits: Base Salary: $210,000 AUD Superannuation Contribution: 11.5% Short-Term Performance Incentives (STI): Up to 10% of base salary.
