The German International School Sydney is looking for a reliable and skilled Grounds and Maintenance Person to help keep our school facilities and grounds in top condition. If you have a background as a handyman, a passion for maintaining clean, safe environments, and a proactive attitude, we would love to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities: General Maintenance: Carry out routine maintenance, repairs, and improvements across the school grounds and buildings as advised by the Facility Manager.Handyman: Carry out minor repairs in painting, plumbing, and carpentry.Event Support: Set up and pack down equipment, furniture, and staging for school events, meetings, and assemblies.Furniture Management: Move, arrange, and install furniture across classrooms, offices, and communal spaces as needed.Groundskeeping: Assist with minor landscaping tasks like mowing, trimming, and watering, while the landscaping company handles overall garden maintenance.Routine Checks: Perform regular safety inspections and minor repairs to ensure facilities and grounds meet health and safety standards.Ad Hoc Duties: Respond to requests for maintenance and repair tasks that arise on a day-to-day basis.To be successful in this role you will have: Previous experience in grounds/general maintenance and repairs in a school or large grounds area is advantageous but not essential.Able to follow instructions and ensure effective time management.A proactive and flexible attitude, ready to respond to the diverse needs of a school environment.Ability to manage your own time to meet deadlines.Good communication and interpersonal skills.Practical skills in basic carpentry, painting, and general repair work.Ability to operate maintenance tools.Physically fit, able to lift and move furniture and equipment as required.Strong safety awareness and safe work ethic / Understanding of OH&S regulations.Current Driver's License.Please note - You must have or ability to acquire a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) and a valid National Police History Certificate.
