In this pivotal role, the Grid Analyst will be instrumental in understanding the operation of Australia's National Electricity Market (NEM). Through insightful data analysis and strategic foresight, the incumbent will play a key part in optimizing grid performance and driving sustainable energy practices.
Key Responsibilities
Analyse grid performance data to optimize electricity market operations. Monitor and forecast electricity supply and demand dynamics within the NEM. Collaborate with internal teams to develop strategies for grid stability and reliability. Conduct in-depth analysis of market trends and emerging challenges. Provide recommendations to enhance grid efficiency and resilience. Utilize advanced modeling techniques to simulate grid scenarios and assess potential impacts. Support the development and implementation of market rules and regulations. Engage with industry stakeholders to gather insights and feedback on grid operations. Contribute to the development of strategic initiatives and long-term planning. Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders. Stay abreast of technological advancements and industry best practices in grid management. Participate in cross-functional projects and working groups to address complex grid-related issues. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the Grid Analysis team. Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior analysts as needed. Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, economics, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in grid analysis, energy markets, or a related field. Strong understanding of electricity market operations, particularly within the NEM. Proficiency in data analysis and modeling techniques, with experience using relevant software tools. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Effective communication and presentation abilities. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and industry standards governing electricity markets. A commitment to innovation, sustainability, and excellence in grid management.
