Graduate Trainee - Compliance

Responsibilities Major Accountabilities/Principal Responsibilities: The successful candidate will support the Australia Compliance team with day-to-day Compliance tasks as well as other project-based activities as required.
Major tasks: Responsible for tracking all interactions with Australia regulators in an organized and auditable manner. Responsible for responding to some Regulator inquiries either in written form (drafting documented responses) or on conference calls. Responsible for executing the implementation of the supporting documentation required to meet the regulatory requirements of all SG Australian entities including manuals, obligations registers and local policies. Contribute to robust and effective compliance controls within the organization. Responsible for the execution of some controls and approvals, especially Personal account dealing approvals and tracking and visitors management and tracking. Responsible for preparatory work related to Compliance training program. Responsible for production of regional reporting and other regional projects as required. Assist Compliance management with the preparation of Committee meeting materials. Other daily tasks include assisting the compliance team to manage day to day compliance obligations, and compliance team mailbox management. Monitor compliance with laws, regulations and internal policies. Remain up to date on the legislative, regulatory environment that SG operates in. Create compliance resource library for staff members to reference. Review existing policies that require review and updating. Profile required Qualifications, Experience & Knowledge Required: Tertiary qualification in Law and another discipline (e.g. Arts, Commerce, Economics or Science) or Business degree. Competent in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, and Microsoft Office generally. Knowledge and understanding of Australian laws, regulations and guidelines in relation to banking and financing activities and a working knowledge of related areas of law and regulatory environment. Excellent analytical skills and ability to accurately interpret complex documents and policies. Behavioral Competency Required: Analytical skills as well as strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly explain complex regulatory and legal issues. Discipline and professionalism with an ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines while maintaining a strong attention to detail. Time management skills including a capacity to manage multiple tasks and the ability to prioritize tasks as relevant. Ability to work independently. Considered to be a team player. High proficiency in spoken and written English.
