Consunet are looking for graduates to join various teams to grow and enhance the Defence Industry. We currently have multiple opportunities to work within Consunet's head office in Adelaide CBD, however working from our secure facility in Edinburgh may be considered.About the Role:As a Consunet Graduate Software Engineer you will be exposed to working within a team of professionals to design, build, integrate and test various software components and contribute to the development of large-scale software solutions. You will be using agile development methodologies and continuous integration techniques. Our engineers investigate, define, and resolve complex technical issues to deliver state-of-the-art cyber and spectrum security (including Electronic Warfare) software solutions to the Australian Defence Force. The roles involve the development of Java applications and back-end systems for real-time data processing and information display. The work requires Java programming experience with a competent level of maths and creative thinking to develop meaningful and easy to comprehend presentation of complex data for users.About You:To be considered for this role, you must be an Australian citizen.As a Software Engineer Graduate, you will have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering or equivalent. You will enjoy problem solving, technology innovation and have strong knowledge of software engineering principles, algorithms, and data structures. Your contribution to the work is predominantly technical and requires an excellent understanding of Java, distributed data processing, wireless data links, protocol design, geospatial data visualisation and web technologies. It would be desirable to have experience with Matlab, machine learning, stream processing, sensor networks, and Linux.Desirable Knowledge and Skills:Evolutionary Architectures (e.g. Microservices).Continuous Integration and Test-Driven Development.Enterprise search tools (e.g. Elasticsearch, Apache Solr).Containerisation technologies (e.g. Docker, Podman).Automated software build systems (e.g. Apache Ant, Gradle).Cloud-native technologies (e.g. Cloud Native Computing Foundation and Landscape).DevSecOps principles, practices, and tools (e.g. GitLab, SonarQube, JFrog products).Geospatial servers (e.g. GeoServer) and Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) standards (e.g. WMS, WFS).Security Clearance:Applicants are required to be Australian Citizens and be eligible to hold and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance.
