About the Opportunity Based in Adelaide, as part of our Regulatory Services Program, you will learn and develop on the job and through a tailored development program, while making a tangible contribution to our team and the City of Adelaide (Co A) more broadly.
You will facilitate development outcomes within the Co A by undertaking the timely assessment of a range of development applications, in relation to the statutory functions of the team.
While maintaining a high level of customer service to all customers, you will also provide assistance to other team members within our planning assessment team.
Key Responsibilities: Undertaking the timely assessment of development applications in relation to the statutory planning functions of the team Providing advice to applicants and members of the public in the interpretation of the Planning and Design Code and other development assessment related matters.
Liaising with and providing advice to other Council Programs, State Government agencies and external bodies on development assessment matters.
Participating in and contributing to all graduate program projects, training, and other undertakings.

Development: Approximately 40 hours of professional development over two years, including participation in the City Leaders program and a collaborative group project with other graduates.
Regular check-ins: You'll have regular 1:1 conversations with your leader to ensure ongoing support, goal setting, wellbeing checks and guidance.
Hone your skills: Opportunities to develop a broad range of transferable skills relevant to various government roles federal, state and local.
Networking opportunities: within the City Council and the broader government sector.
Minimum Requirements: Graduated within approximately the last 2 years or are expecting to graduate within approximately the next 6 months, with a degree in Urban and Regional Planning or a related field.
An understanding of planning assessment and the ability to assess and analyse planning matters and determine solutions in an effective and timely way.
The ability to prepare a range of correspondence, including written reports.
Knowledge of relevant planning legislation and other related legislation.
The ability to apply urban design principles to development and an understanding of architectural terminology.
Proficiency in 3 D model software.
