Graduate Lawyer— Central Lawyers Pty Ltd Our Vision Central Lawyers (CL) is a boutique commercial law firm based in Paddington that specialises in small to medium business matters. Founded by its principal who capitalises on 15 years of legal experience across practice areas and prides itself on bespoke advice and personalised assistance in disputes arising from contract, employment, property, corporate and trust law.
CL's practice is informed by a central mandate of social enterprise and seeks out individuals who share its vision of work that is both business and social impact-minded. In particular, concerns with issues of social justice flow from its principal's dual management of Australia's first community legal centre for racial justice and necessarily imply an ethics of care, cultural competence and responsibility into the way we approach client relations.
We are looking to on-board a full-time graduate distinction average student of law to work in close consultation with our Principal Solicitor and gain in-depth, hands-on practical experience and legal acumen in tackling an array of legal issues affecting a diverse range of clients in the community who are or otherwise work with small businesses. No two days are the same, fostering a culture of intellectual rigour, creativity and collaborative work that enables the delivery of a high quality service.
What You Gain Successful applicants will be afforded the opportunity to engage in comprehensive legal research and liaise with clients to draft and review a range of contract types (including shareholder agreements, company constitutions, employment contracts, service agreements, loan facility, share sale), affidavits, letters of advice, demand and offer. Additional responsibilities may include:
Drafting legal documentsLegal researchAdministrative tasks (including using case management software to ensure proper document management and filing email content and attachments, helping to monitor and attend to the calendars of the supervising solicitors where necessary)Preparing and refining existing precedent documents;What We Look For In order to flourish in this role, the ideal candidate will have the following attributes:
Have just completed your law degree at university (LLB, JD);Minimum WAM of 75% (Distinction average);Excellent written and verbal communication;High levels of independence and proactivity;Be able to commit Full time work from both home and in-office (subject to discussion with the Principal Solicitor);Technological capability and proficiency in Microsoft Suite .Start Date: Preferably 24/06/2024
Rate of Pay: Relevant rate under Legal Services Award [MA000116]
