Kestrel is one of the world's largest producing underground coking, or metallurgical coal mines and produces around 7 million tonnes of metallurgical coal annually. Our coal is shipped to key markets in Asia and Europe to be used in the steel making process. The mine is located in the Bowen Basin, approximately 40km Northeast of Emerald in Central QLD. Our team's capability covers the entire mining process, from development to extraction and processing, environmental management and sustainable rehabilitation. We have an approved life of mine until 2033 and reserves to 2046 with the potential to increase further.

About the role:We are currently seeking a Graduate Engineer Mining to join our Technical Services Team. In this role, you will be working a Monday to Friday roster or 9-day fortnight and be based on site at Kestrel Mine.
What's on Offer:Permanent role on a site with a long mine life.Work Life Balance – working Monday to Friday or a 9-day fortnight.Residential role allowing you to be home every night.Generous salary package with a competitive incentive structure.Company Housing Options.Salary sacrificing and salary packaging options.Generous Health Benefits including options for subsidised private health insurance.Working for an organisation that values their people and will invest in your future.In this role, you will support Kestrel by:Assisting with the development and regular update of the underground mine plan that safely and efficiently maximizes coal recovery from the mine and assist with the production of mine design and forecasts that improve the mine's short-term operational performance.Assisting the Senior Mining Engineer and Mine Engineer to ensure the mine plan is accurate and optimized to serve the business' requirements.Assisting with establishing and maintaining the short-term mine schedule whilst analyzing and interpreting relevant data.Gaining and maintaining knowledge of best practice within mine planning and sharing interesting and useful information across the business, as appropriate.Assisting with the investigation of enhancements to standards, procedures and processes in mine planning that achieve improvements in safety, reliability, performance, job satisfaction and productivity.Developing and maintaining positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Assisting with departmental audits, observations, and safety inspections to demonstrate commitment to monitoring and reviewing processes.Assisting with the appropriate notification, investigation, reporting, and recording of accidents and incidents as required by site policy and legislation and applying timely remedial actions.About you:A bachelor's degree in Engineering (mining).Passionate about your field and willingness to learn.Proven problem-solving and analytical skills.The ability to work in a team environment.Well-developed interpersonal skills as well as effective written and oral communication skills.Strong software skills including Microsoft applications.At Kestrel, we are ONE.
