$73,701 – $81,888 per year + superannuation
A great opportunity exists for one Graduate or Junior Accountant with under 5 years of experience to kick off 2025 by joining a dynamic team in a values-based NFP. Supporting the Finance Manager and accounting operations of the Catholic Diocese of Rockhampton, the role will assist in meeting management and financial reporting obligations.
The Graduate Accountant is responsible for: Producing monthly financial reports including cash flow, profit and loss, and balance sheet statementsProducing annual financial reports and budgetsPreparing and submitting returns to meet current statutory and legislative obligations, including those imposed by various governing bodiesPreparing work papers for auditMaintaining the fixed asset registerPreparing and completing journalsKeeping abreast of accounting standards and best practicesEnsuring the integrity of accounting systems and the currency of transactional dataPerforming periodic reconciliations of the general ledger and balance sheetParticipating in work area meetingsEnsuring timely reporting and compliance.The successful candidate will have the following: Degree in Business, Commerce, Accountancy or related disciplineLess than 5 years' experience working in an accounting-oriented roleAbility to analyse, interpret, reconcile, and communicate financial informationAbility to prioritise workloads and manage multiple tasks with competing timelinesExcellent organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills allied to practical judgementAbility to learn, with direction from Financial AccountantGood financial acumenIntermediate computer software skills, including Microsoft Excel and accounting packagesAbility to understand internal controls and process improvementGood interpersonal skillsActive participant in the Catholic Church community and/or lifestyle compatible with the values and teachings of the ChurchAs we are committed to the safeguarding of children, young people, and adults at risk, a national criminal history check is required for this role.
