Public Relations & Corporate Affairs (Marketing & Communications) Established in 1920, ClubsNSW is the peak representative body for the NSW club industry. You've likely seen our members active in your community. We represent over 1,100 diverse sporting and cultural clubs, including RSLs, bowls, golf, and leagues clubs. Registered clubs were established to give back to their local communities and continue to do so. The not-for-profit Club industry employs more than 54,000 people, and is home to more than 6.7 million memberships.
About the role The Government Relations Manager is responsible for managing the industry's engagement with NSW and federal government stakeholders, developing industry policy and strategic positions, and managing ClubsNSW's policy and government team.
The club industry is governed by a diverse set of state and federal policy areas, such as:
liquor, gambling and food tax, economic and competition policy workforce policy, including skills, training and skilled migration corporations and governance environment and CSR privacy and discrimination policy land and planning industrial relations, including workers compensation and work health and safety (WHS) Key responsibilities Build and maintain constructive relationships with key government stakeholders Provide strategic and tactical advice to support ClubsNSW and Clubs Australia's strategic plans Represent ClubsNSW and Clubs Australia at relevant political and industry functions and events Collaborate with the Policy & Regulatory team and other teams within the organisation to develop briefings and other materials for government stakeholders Monitor political, governmental and parliamentary developments to identify opportunities to advance and protect the industry's interests Manage ClubsNSW and Clubs Australia's reputation with government stakeholders Develop and adhere to systems and processes to appropriately record and report on the organisation's government affairs activities Skills and background Experience of 5 years or more working in a political office, government department, industry peak body or other similar role Strong knowledge of governmental, political and policymaking processes Demonstrated ability to understand legislation and public policy documents (a legal background is not necessarily required) Why Join Us?
