Our Corporate Affairs team engages with government and industry to participate in public policy discussions on issues that impact the Bank. They work with internal stakeholders to build the organisation's position on these topics, connect the business with industry stakeholders, and promote the organisation throughout the sector and into government.
We have a unique opportunity to join the team as a Government Relations and Industry Affairs Lead. Reporting to the Head of Corporate Affairs you'll provide policy and advocacy, engagement and leadership for the Bank across government, industry, and the community.
No two days will be the same as you identify and anticipate strategically significant issues to inform the Bank's public affairs agenda and represent its interests to key stakeholders with a focus on industry and government. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders to define policy priorities and develop and implement relevant policy engagement actions.
As Government Relations and Industry Affairs Lead, you'll get to:
Be responsible for the voice and advocacy of the Bank to our government and industry stakeholders and facilitate Bank employees to engage and collaborate with these stakeholders.Monitor, identify, and inform the Bank of potential risks and opportunities and provide strategic insight to shape and formulate a position.Advocate for the Bank's position through submissions, government engagement, industry, and public policy forums.Lift the Group's engagement with elected decision makers to build (and protect) reputation, reach, and influence.Build awareness of the Group among government and industry to strategically position it as 'the bank of choice' among government and its partners.You may already have corporate affairs or government related experience, or perhaps experience in policy development. Most importantly you'll have a genuine interest in Government Relations and Industry Affairs and be passionate to develop yourself further in this specialist area.
The Corporate and Public Affairs team has a wealth of experience to share and are excited to add a new member who will contribute strongly to the team's success, whilst being supported in their learning and career development. Join a small team of professionals will provide you with career development in a non-hierarchical environment.
This role can be based in any one of our office locations in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Bendigo, or Adelaide. We offer flexible work options that put our people first, and a hybrid model with a minimum of two days per week in the office. This role could be full time or part time, so talk to us about what flexibility looks like for you.
What you'll bring to the role A relevant tertiary qualification in Public Policy, Public Relations, Communications, or Business.A background in banking, corporate affairs, and/or government with a strong understanding of the Australian political environment and banking industry.Demonstrated experience in policy development, advocacy, stakeholder management and engagement.The ability to research, analyse, and strategically respond to complex issues.Outstanding communication, presentation, engagement, and influencing skills.Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, able to problem solve, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.So, why work with us?
