We value those with sharp, analytical minds who are open to challenging the way things are done.The key duties of the position include:The teamThe Government Relations team performs a priority function that is integral to ASIC's engagement with Ministerial and Parliamentary stakeholders. The purpose of the Government Relations function is to support Ministerial and Parliamentary engagement that aligns ASIC's strategic priorities with the Statement of Expectations.The roleAs Government Relations Adviser, you will:Support the implementation of an approach for the Agency to guide engagement with Members of Parliament, Federal and State Governments.Work with portfolio agencies, policymakers, regulators and relevant industry bodies in areas where ASIC's strategic and operational priorities can align.Strengthen understanding and awareness of ASIC as a trusted, modern and efficient regulator through collaboration and timely engagement with government and industry stakeholders to build trust, confidence and mutual respect.Support the development of all formal Executive briefings, working across the Agency to provide advice and support for the development of briefs that align with the legislative and reform agendas.Ensure best-practice governance and record keeping mechanisms are prioritised and adhered to.Help to promote the understanding within ASIC of the importance of Government Relations and the Parliamentary process, engaging key internal stakeholders to advance their knowledge and understanding.About youBachelor's degree in communications/journalism, public relations, law or economics, or other relevant discipline.Experience in understanding the protocols and sensitivities in a public sector environment and corporate arena; ideally in a regulatory environment.Experience and understanding of the parliamentary system.Experience working with subject-matter experts to develop content messages.Experience with financial services policy.Expertise communicating complex and technical content to multiple audiences across traditional, digital and social platforms.Relationship management skills, including experience influencing and advising executives and technical experts.Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects and display sound judgement.About ASICASIC's remit is one of the broadest of regulators across the world.
