Governance Team Lead

Public Sector People are partnering with a well-known  government organisation to recruit for a Governance Team Lead on a 4 month contract.
The position is responsible for: Coordinating and overseeing the effective and efficient functions and services of the Governance Team providing high-level secretariat support to Council, the Audit, Risk and Improvement (ARIC) and other council committees.
Providing expert advice, guidance and training on governance, privacy and information access matters.
Developing and maintaining an effective governance framework, policies and delegations to ensure compliance with NSW legislation.
Overseeing Council's information access process in accordance with the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA Act)   Comply with WHS Legislation, Policies and Procedures - Maintain a high standard of housekeeping and a safe work area - Identify and report all Hazards for your area - Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - Participate in the development and review of Risk Assessments - Adhere to control measures and safe systems of work - Report all Incidents and Near Misses - Meet reporting timeframes - Comply with the Return to Work Program Comply with Document Storage Legislation and Procedures   Store and maintain corporate records in Council's electronic document records management system in accordance with relevant standards, procedures and the State Records Act.
Required Qualifications/Certificates Tertiary qualifications in Business, Business Law, Governance or related discipline Required Experience Demonstrated high level understanding of the following legislation: o Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA Act) o Government Information (Public Access) Regulation 2018 o Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (PIPP Act) o Local Government Act 1993 Experience in processing formal GIPA applications Experience in developing and implementing policies and procedures in accordance with legislative requirements Minimum 5 years' experience in local government or similar environment For a confidential discussion, please send an updated resume to Caitlin Merrin at ****** with an appropriate time to call.
