About the role Council is on the lookout for a full-time Governance and Strategy Team Leader to join our governance team.
Council is committed to continually increasing our internal capability and this is a great opportunity for someone with experience in governance to join our team.
In this role, you'll be in charge of rolling out and reviewing our governance and risk management policies.
You'll also help create a positive risk management culture across the organisation, and play a key part in shaping our business planning and implementing internal audit recommendations.
As a vital member of our team, you'll work closely with the Manager of Corporate Governance to help ensure Council meets our complex legislative responsibilities.
Your expertise will enhance our understanding of good governance and guide us in maintaining compliance and high standards.
To thrive in this role, you should be a self-starter who's comfortable working independently.
Attention to detail is crucial, as is your ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines while communicating effectively.
Key Responsibilities Develop and implement governance frameworks and policies related to risk, compliance, probity, and audit Foster a culture of integrity, accountability, and quality governance Identify, analyse, and respond to risks affecting our sector Ensure Council complies with relevant legislation through efficient regulation Support ongoing improvements in our internal and external audit processes Assist in the creation of our corporate strategies, business planning, and annual reports Key Requirements A degree or equivalent experience in governance or a related field, with at least 4 years of relevant experience Experience managing teams effectively to achieve goals Strong understanding of statutory requirements and public sector policies around risk management, audit, and governance Proven skills in reviewing and implementing processes that meet regulatory standards and best practices Excellent written and verbal communication skills for engaging with a diverse range of people Ability to work with minimal direction to enhance processes and achieve high-quality results, while managing your own priorities and deadlines Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with a keen eye for detail Understanding of confidentiality and privacy matters, with the ability to obtain a satisfactory National Police Clearance Certificate A valid NSW Class C driver's license What we can offer Work/Life Balance Rostered day off every third week Generous leave entitlements Corporate gym membership Employee education assistance Access to training and professional development opportunities Access to confidential employee assistance program To view the Position Summary click here

Salary: $1,826.10 - $2,015.58 + superannuation
Position Status: Permanent Full-time
Hours of work: 35 hours per week with an RDO every third week
