Government agency seeks Governance and Policy Officer to provide committee governance and internal controls specialist guidance to business teams
Governance and Internal Controls Policy Officer $110,000-$115,000 plus Super depending on experience Full-time, ongoing permanent position. Immediate Start Melbourne CBD location/Working from Home Arrangement About the role Government agency seeks an experienced Governance and Policy Officer to join them in a full-time, ongoing position located in Melbourne CBD. As the Governance and Policy Officer, you will provide internal controls specialist guidance to business teams and deliver continuous improvements to the agency's Committee Governance Program. As the Governance and Policy Officer, you will be responsible for monitoring, reviewing, and providing advice on the agency's controls initial assessment, control documentation, control design, control testing, providing the outcome of control testing to control owners and provide recommendations for improvement.
Key duties Your key tasks and responsibilities will include:
Delivering consistent and sound committee governance support aligned to the organisation's policies. Providing expert advice on sound and approved governance principles and procedures and how they can be effectively applied to advisory and consultative committee management. Coordinate and action executive secretariat services to advisory committees. Partnering with the Risk and Finance Teams and other Departments on internal controls and assurance issues and make recommendations to address them. Delivering briefings and policy advice that support the strategic direction of the business team and department. Identifying opportunities for stakeholder engagement and implementing engagement processes including the preparation of stakeholder engagement document, and analysis of feedback to inform policy summaries and reports. Providing timely alerts to the Executive Leadership Team and delivering continuous improvements for the Committee Governance Program Key Selection Criteria The skills and experience you will need to demonstrate include:
Experience in public sector administration working with government processes. Demonstrable experience in applying clear, accountable governance principles and practices to programs and projects supporting sound advisory committee operations. Ability to deliver governance of statutory and advisory committees in accordance with broader organisational and government policies Prior experience in reviewing and formulating policy and procedure documents. Experience in providing high-quality advice and ensuring that Executive briefings are written to a high standard and align with governance controls. Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and to influence outcomes Qualifications Tertiary qualification in Public Policy, Public administration or equivalent. Committee Governance experience highly regarded. How to apply?
