Job Overview
We are seeking a proficient accountant to join our team in Sydney by helping prepare business and corporate group financial statements, accounts, budget forecasts and tax returns.
Primary Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of the position is focused on accounting, budgeting and cost management and includes but not limited to:
Calculate taxes and prepare company tax returns for verification and lodgement Prepare Business Activity Statements and Income Activity statements Prepare Bank reconciliations and monthly financial statements (balance sheets, profit and loss statements and cashflows) for presentation to Board of Directors, Management and shareholders. Prepare weekly cashflow forecast to determine funds availability for payroll to management team Create and maintain inventory and fixed asset registers and prepare depreciation and amortisation journal Examine company operating costs, income and expenditure and advise General Manager accordingly Develop and maintain accounting systems (MYOB) and procedures in accordance with statutory requirements and best practice. Assist with year-end audit process and prepare for auditor's requirements Forecast business spending and budget according to market trends. Prepare draft annual budget for the following financial year and analyse and report actual performance compared to budgeted performance to management team. Comply with business financial policies and Australian financial legislation and regulations. Complete monthly productivity review of all sites to ascertain those sites that are under or overperforming financially. Reporting
This position reports directly to the General Manager.
Qualifications and Skills Requirements
You will need the following to be successful for this role:
Relevant Bachelor's degree in accounting or commerce (preferred CPA membership) Minimum 2 years of accounting and/or auditing experience with similar responsibilities Intermediate to advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel Ability to learn financial system quickly (preferred MYOB and Sage experience) Efficiency and attention to detail, even when working within strict time frames Confidence in work prioritisation and managing your own workload while still being a committed team player Adaptability, professionalism and high level of confidentiality Highly developed interpersonal skills with excellent understanding of the English language Excellent time management skills If you are up for this challenge, please Apply Now and specify your availability and if you have any working hours limitation.
