This position will be under the direct supervision of the Girringun TUMRA Coordinator.
The role of Sea Country Project Officer will provide support for Girringun's sea country management programs, including its operation, management, and maintenance across Saltwater country within the Girringun region.
This position has a strong focus on communication, education, awareness, and the delivery of on-country meetings, workshops, and project activities, with and at the advice of the six saltwater traditional owner groups that collectively form the Girringun Region TUMRA.
This position will support TUMRA, IPA, and GAR initiatives in accordance with GAC operational and TUMRA protocols.
The Sea Country Project Officer will assist Girringun's sea country management programs, including its operation, management, and maintenance across Saltwater country within the Girringun region.
In accordance with the TUMRA and Rangers Annual Project Plans, the Sea Country Project Officer is required to:
Develop and maintain an awareness of the TUMRA and Traditional Owner priorities for sea country while upholding cultural protocols.Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of culturally appropriate communication strategies to educate communities and the public about the Girringun TUMRA, including any traditional hunting rules and authorization systems.Work with and support the TUMRA, Rangers, and IPA Coordinators to coordinate and implement sea country activities.Organise catering and venues for meetings, prepare meeting minutes, brief reports, and other documents as necessary for the TUMRA, Rangers, and IPA Programs.Have input into the development of communication materials as identified in the TUMRA Communication Strategy to enhance the communications, education, and awareness of the Girringun TUMRA and Traditional Owner led sea country management.Assist with on-country cultural activities in conjunction with and at the advice of Traditional Owners and work with the Girringun Aboriginal Rangers, Girringun IPA Coordinator as part of their annual work plan, including training needs. #J-18808-Ljbffr
