Gidarjil Development Corporation Limited is an Aboriginal organisation established to promote and support the economic, social & cultural development in Indigenous communities, within the Port Curtis Coral Coast (PCCC) region. GDCL encourages and supports a culture of lifelong learning & ongoing professional development. This is done through incentive programs that develop Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with maintaining & reviving their traditional practices in Cultural Heritage and Environmental protection.
The project coordinator is required to work with the First Nations people to manage and protect the natural and cultural resources of the Granite Creek region, foster local community's input and ownership of the resources and manage Rangers who carry out specific land management and environmental activities.
1. POSITION OBJECTIVES To successfully deliver the work schedules under the Working on Country project. Work collaboratively with Gurang and Goreng Goreng people to manage and protect natural and cultural resources of the region. Support and manage a team of Rangers in the implementation of funded initiatives. Ensure the employment and accredited training of Indigenous Rangers. 2. KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and implement a four-year management plan, including integrated annual plans, to meet strategic organisational objectives and deliver on the Working on Country project. Supervise and coordinate Rangers under that plan. Manage, monitor and evaluate projects according to outputs and ensuring delivery of milestones within specific timeframe, resources and budget. Identify and address community concerns by interaction, contact and communication. Establish and enable networking for community consultation. Develop and write milestone reports for funded initiatives. Oversee professional guidance on cultural and natural resource management including maintenance of local Indigenous language. ORGANISATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS Responsible to: Steering committee and Managing Director
Supervision of: Rangers, Administrator
EXTENT OF AUTHORITY Operates under general direction of the Managing Director
3. SELECTION CRITERIA At least 2 years Ranger experience Identify as Indigenous with kinship to Bailai, Gurang, Goreng Goreng or Taribelang Bunda country A good understanding of project management methodology and knowledge of basic accounting procedures and petty cash systems Demonstrated skills in managing staff working in a team environment Demonstrated and applied knowledge of natural resource management Demonstrated interpersonal, written and verbal communication experience Highly developed reporting, budgeting and facilitation skills including ability to collect, collate and analyse information and data Demonstrated experience in application of OH&S legislation and policies to maximise a safe working environment and also principles of Equity and diversity and Participative Workplace Practices Current 'C' class motor drivers licence Your application will include the following questions:
